Do you have a passion for sustainable change? A desire to empower a new generation of young environment champions and sustainable leaders? Are you a strong community networker, and effective communicator?  We are looking for facilitators to work across the Waikato.

This position involves working with Enviroschools' lead teachers, student envirogroups, and other members of school communities to assist each school to engage in a process of change towards more sustainable communities. 

The position also involves collaborating with the wider group of facilitators working across the region to organise and plan work programmes to meet the aims of the Enviroschools programme.

The role is a contract position for five months, and has flexible working hours (a part-time equivalent of approximately 10 hours per week). 

Key requirements:

  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with a wide variety of people, especially teachers and students/children of all ages
  • Confident and enthusiastic communicator and facilitator
  • Experience in running meetings, workshops and local events
  • Proven experience working successfully with schools, children and community groups
  • Experience in teaching and/or training is desirable
  • A strong understanding of the education sector
  • Proven project and time management skills
  • Creative and lateral thinker
  • Highly motivated with a strong client focus
  • A strategic and pragmatic thinker
  • A passion for environmental science/natural resource management/sustainability
  • Computer literate with ability to use MS Office and Google Suite
  • Located near the schools being facilitated, in this case in Waipa, Otorohanga, Waitomo and/or Northern Waikato District
  • Own transport and full driver's licence required
  • Relevant background checking (as per the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014) will be undertaken.
