We are a school for high/very high needs students aged 5–21. Our base school is situated in Naenae and we have 3 satellite classes within the Naenae/Taita area as well as a satellite unit on the grounds of Evans Bay Intermediate. We seek an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our team of physiotherapists. New graduates are welcome to apply. We will offer the successful candidate ongoing support and professional development in all aspects of the role.

Paediatric physiotherapist required at Mahinawa Specialist School, located in Porirua. It caters for a diverse range of students from 5–21 years of age with high and complex special needs. The majority of students are funded through the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS). The school employs a range of specialists to meet students’ needs. There are 6 classes at the base school and 4 satellite classes located at Titahi Bay Intermediate, Porirua Primary, Ngāti Toa and Raumati Beach schools.

You will work within a transdisciplinary team and be an active part of school routines and events. The role involves incorporating MOVE (Mobility Opportunities via Education) into the school programme and carrying out assessment and treatment of students with complex needs. Riding for the Disabled and hydrotherapy sessions are integral parts of the job.

The successful applicant will initially work at Kimi Ora’s base site in Naenae and Mahinawa’s base site in Porirua and will need to have the flexibility to work at other sites in the future.

Experience in working with students with special needs is desirable but not essential.

These are salaried positions, however the part-time hours are required term time only.

Consideration will be given to applicants wanting to apply for either position.
