We are seeking fully registered teachers who are passionate, enthusiastic and willing to explore innovative ways of learning and teaching. Beginning teachers or those who are either not fully registered or unable to be fully registered by the end of this school year will not be considered as neither position is suitable for such.
Both positions currently being offered are in a Māori medium setting and therefore, the successful applicant would need to have a good level of te reo Māori and be supportive of tikanga Māori programmes pertaining to our local hapū and iwi.
The successful applicant must be able to work collaboratively within a whānau-focused environment. You will play a key role in the development of our localised curriculum and must be culturally responsive to the needs of our akonga.
Key skills and attributes required for this position:
Sound pedagogical skill and knowledge
Good knowledge and experience of TeMarautanga o Aotearoa/NZ Curriculum
An effective communicator with good written skills
An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with akonga, whānau and staff
Preferably Huarahi Māori trained, with a broad understanding of both the NZ Curriculum as well as Te Marautanga O Aotearoa
An understanding of Matauranga Māori and fluency in te reo Māori
Experience working in a bilingual setting teaching between 51–80% te reo Māori
Knowledge and understanding of Ngapuhitanga – Tikanga and dialect (Te mita o Ngapuhi)
Have a good understanding of local knowledge and have wide networks throughout Taitokerau.
