U1, roll 34, Y0–8, staffing 2.5. Are you looking for a great teaching and leadership opportunity in a fantastic small community?

Muriwai and Gisborne are located in a beautiful and bountiful part of the country with easy access to the ranges, rivers and sea. We live in an outdoor-adventure, coastal paradise where the sunny days are long and frequent; the tramping, swimming, boating, fishing and diving are easy; the traffic jam is definitely non-existent; and the welcome is warm and friendly.

Our school offers you the best of both worlds as a teaching-principal. The teaching contact and management components are both 0.5 each. There are also 2 other teachers, an office administrator, a teacher aide and active community volunteers at the school.

We currently have 2 Y0–8 classes. One class is Māori immersion and the other mainstream English with a bilingual component. The BOT is currently consulting with iwi and the wider community for input into our class composition mix and the delivery of our curriculum moving forward.

We are located a scenic 15 minute drive south of Gisborne on SH2, surrounded by farmland and close to the coast. Our students are drawn from the nearby Muriwai village, farms and lifestyle blocks in the area, as well as some who travel from town.

We're looking for a positive, innovative, caring and enthusiastic teacher, pedagogical leader and principal to help us on our schoolwide change and improvement journey.

Take advantage of our small class sizes and friendly, family-sized school. We have great students; great grounds and facilities; and we are financially sound. A tidy school house is also available if required.

A successful applicant may be eligible for the Principal Recruitment Allowance (PRA) of up to $50,000.

Job starts term 1, Monday 29 January 2018.
