Our assistant principal is heading south. The appointee will be responsible for leading a team of six to eight junior classes across our base and satellites, ensuring that new junior students have a successful transition into school, and staff deliver highly effective programmes which include IEPs and the New Zealand Curriculum, in collaboration with our transition coordinator, therapists/specialists and whānau.
We seek a highly motivated educator who has outstanding organisational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as up-to-date special education pedagogy and the adapted NZ Curriculum. Strengths in assessment are necessary, as this position will also involve supervision of our BSq assessment software and liaison with the UK team.
The appointee will be expected to provide coaching programmes to enable teachers using teacher inquiry to meet professional standards of performance and the Practising Teacher Criteria. An ability to coach and mentor staff in all aspects of the curriculum including positive behaviour support as well as specialist strategies for supporting students with autism is necessary. Skills required in reviewing and evaluating programme effectiveness using multiple sources of data and various evaluative tools in order to inform school objectives and action plans which support quality teaching and the full engagement and participation of all students.
Applicants must be able to provide schoolwide evidence-based information on student achievement. The successful appointee will be trained in the TEACCH programme and the SCERTS model and implement these schoolwide.
