Our kura is New Zealand's largest school. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood level to Y13, including to young adult and adult learners.

Our vision is to enable our students to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.

We are leaders in online pedagogical approaches. Kaiako at Te Kura work collaboratively and have opportunities to access professional learning and development to support their professional goals and Te Kura strategic and regional initiatives.

The Southern region is seeking a kaiako who will have a responsibility for teaching a class of students in our online teaching environment. Our students all work from an individual learning plan and teachers engage in authentic learning programmes covering the key competencies and curriculum areas.

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and assessment requirements and are willing to learn, innovate, work collaboratively and build effective relationships. There are opportunities to engage with students through our regional advisories and event days.

You'll be future-oriented and understand how the use of technology, together with your enthusiasm, vision and commitment improves education outcomes for all our students – Māori and Pasifika learners in particular. Key qualities that we are seeking include:

  • relationship focused
