Tolaga Bay Area School Gisborne

Performing arts teacher – music, dance and drama

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher

The arts

  Suitable for beginning teachers
Listed 9:23 AM 16 October 2017
Closes 12pm 03 November 2017
Vacancy reference #: 1H9fRi

We have a new full-time teaching position in Y7–13. We seek a teacher of music, dance and drama. The successful applicant must be passionate about teaching and ambitious about student achievement. Innovative practice will be welcomed and encouraged. ICT literate please.

This is a new position for our school and the teacher will have a lot of leeway to develop exciting programmes beginning with Y7–11 and then developing into senior NCEA programmes. Our students are keen to develop their talents in performing arts. We already have a reasonably strong Māori performing arts programme. We want to develop other complimentary mainstream areas of performing arts and will be committed to resourcing programmes.

As part of a school rebuild project we are creating a purpose-built performance suite with a recording studio.

Ideally we would like an experienced teacher but we would welcome beginner teacher applications as well.
