You will enjoy working in a well-resourced mathematics department of 14 staff. You will have pleasure in teaching in modern facilities with a strong support network behind you.

The general aims of mathematics education at the college include:

  • Developing skills to aid in everyday use of mathematics in real life situations
  • To encourage students to engage in the art of mathematics and to look forward to the sense of achievement it brings
  • To develop skills students will require once in the workforce
  • To encourage the more able students to develop a top level working knowledge of mathematics to take with them.

Applicants must have belief in the ability of young people, a commitment to working in a multicultural, student-focused environment and will be expected to endorse the school's academic priority and participate in the extracurricular life of the school. This role teaching mathematics to junior and senior students and managing the mathematics department is a great opportunity to join a modern learning environment in proud community-focused NZ secondary school. The right teacher will have a positive attitude towards learning, great classroom management skills, a genuine care for the wellbeing of students, will value cultural diversity and have the willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities. Curriculum experience and knowledge in mathematics is essential, with relevant, advanced tertiary qualifications and a recognised teaching qualification also required.

This position is suitable for someone with prior leadership experience as well as someone ready for that next career step.
