We are a large progressive special school based in West Auckland. We cater for students aged 5 to 21 years with intellectual and associated disabilities; 50% of our students have a diagnosis of autism. Our students are educated in a range of settings including base school, satellite classes and our community-based centre for post-18-year-olds.
We view each student as a unique learner. The curriculum focuses on supporting each student to develop the skills they need to be an effective communicator, to be as independent as possible through their lives, and to reach their potential in all areas.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate educator who values collaboration and teamwork, and can build quality relationships with students. You may not have experience in specialist teaching approaches but you will need to have an ‘inquiry’ mindset, be open to learning and be able to help our learners reach their potential through personalised learning approaches.
The successful applicant will be able to indicate their preference of year level. We offer ongoing support and professional development. School visits are welcomed. This position begins in January 2018.
