As part of a collaboration with Sport NZ, Team Solutions is seeking to appoint a 'secondary' or primary-trained teacher as part of our team of mentors in physical education, working with schools and communities to improve student learning and outcomes in physical education as a component of 'Play.sport' – the Sport NZ practical implementation of a vision of enriching and inspiring the lives of young people by creating a lifelong love of being physically active. This position is to cover a current staff member who will be on maternity leave from the start of 2018. Expected start date would be mid/late January, 2018.

Physical education mentors support and mentor teachers in primary and intermediate schools and provide professional learning and development for schools involved in Play.sport. You will be a physically active person with ideally at least 4 to 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience and be prepared to model effective teaching practice in the physical education curriculum. You will support and mentor teachers within a cluster of West Auckland schools to develop their confidence and competence to plan, teach and assess quality physical education experiences for their students.

Requirements:

  • Proven commitment to improving outcomes for all students and in particular for Māori students, Pasifika students, students with special education needs and students from low socio-economic backgrounds
  • Passion for the teaching and learning of physical education in primary and/or intermediate schools
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and preferably evidence of ongoing study or professional learning
  • Current full NZ teacher registration
  • Full NZ driver's licence, as some travel will be part of this work.
