School of Undergraduate Studies, Whakatāne-based, regular travel required.

We are looking for an experienced academic to lead and coordinate our current and future teaching and education programmes nationally. This is a key leadership role, and you will also be expected to have a small teaching workload within the Bachelor of Education (Primary) programme.  

As National Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for academic programme quality including oversight of student evaluations, changes to the programmes and resources, reporting on outcomes and ensuring that students receive regular and helpful feedback. You will also have input to the review and development of current and future teaching and education programmes.

This position currently manages seven direct reports in Whakatāne and six indirect reports located in Whāngārei and Tāmaki-makaurau.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least five years' academic leadership experience including experience managing staff, preferably leadership experience in the tertiary sector
  • Relevant experience coordinating an academic programme, and experience monitoring NZQA accredited programmes
  • Experience in a role with a focus on educational quality improvement and quality assurance
  • A minimum of a PhD degree, although applicants with a Master’s degree in education along with other requirements for the role are encouraged to apply
  • At least five years' primary teaching (mainstream or kura kaupapa Māori) experience.  
  • Current teacher registration is desired
  • Tertiary teaching experience to Masters’ level
  • A record of research

Knowledge of tīkanga Māori and at least an intermediate level of te reo Māori skills is required although fluency is desired.
