Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai - Nurture the seed and it will blossom

This PLD is for Outdoor Education teachers wanting to develop their understanding of mātauranga Māori.

Participate in a pōwhiri and noho marae/overnight stay
Examine and discuss the new Outdoor Recreation unit standards and the Te Ao Māori concepts within them such as karakia, pepeha, waiata, ngā atua.
Explore the local and hear the pūrākau and pakiwaitara og significant places.
Plan next steps of action to integrate mātauranga Māori into your teaching practice.

Facilitated by Jane Townsend, Sophie Hoskins along with local experts.

Kai will be provided.

You will need to bring

Blanket or Sleeping bag
Pillow
Towel
Suitable clothing and footwear for being in the outdoors
Suitable clothing for paddling in a waka/getting wet
A bike and helmet if you have one (please let us know if you'd like to borrow one).
Printed copy of the workbook and a pen
Anything else you need for an overnight stay
