Are you ready to take on the Minecraft build challenge and tell the story of Kūpe and the Giant Wheke?

Get your team together and take on the Minecraft build challenge - 2 half-day Minecraft Learning for Y5-6 and Y7-8, with links to Aotearoa NZ Histories.

This exciting lesson will have direct links to Aotearoa NZ Histories.

During the lesson,

Ākonga will be taken through a short lesson around the story of Kūpe and the Giant Wheke.

Teams will then be taken through a process to plan what they want to build in Minecraft.

They will then have the opportunity to speed build in Minecraft to retell the story.

We will then regroup to share our stories and creations.

Competing teams

The Minecraft Build Challenge is open to school teams in Christchurch, each team is four students with one accompanying adult.

There are two sessions for you to choose from.

Session One is suitable for Y5-6 students - 9:30am–12pm

Session Two is suitable for Y7-8 students - 12:30–3pm  

Delivered in English Medium, inclusive to all with Te Ao Māori values upheld throughout the hui.

This is a FREE hui for ākonga in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, and is part of Learning Days Christchurch.
