Honing up your Coaching Habit

2023 is here and with the focus in the NELP (Objective 3 - Priority 6) on quality teaching and leadership now is the time to look ahead and plan to invest into building capability across your centre with high quality coaching skills.

What learning leaders think, do and say every day.

The goals for learning leaders is twofold. They need to develop their own theory of leadership rather than adopt someone else’s. This personalised learning theory will support the ongoing goal of successfully leading a learning organisation while being committed to the learning of themselves and those they lead.

Leadership is traditionally viewed as a competency-based skill and seen as something people do rather than who we are, who we need to become and who we can become by being.

Are you ready to activate a ‘culture of thinking and learning’ for all members of your learning community?

Q. How do we define a ‘culture of thinking and learning?”
A. One that commits to learning for every single person who serves that.

Developing thinkers and learners in kaiako is just as important as in tamariki.

We cannot expect to have one culture in the learning environment for tamariki and another for adults where the same principles don’t apply.

The course material will be useful for leaders and kaiako who are wanting to:

  • Hone their coaching skills
  • Lift their evaluative practices – linked to internal evaluation and professional growth cycles
  • Learn new strategies for developing trust, courage and conversations that lead to possibilities of developing self and others.

Day One: Tuesday 30 May,  9.30am–4pm
Day Two: Wednesday 31 May,  9.30am–3pm.
