The Ministry of Education is announcing a new opportunity for 2022 teaching graduates to join our pilot programme. This programme aims to connect beginning and returning teachers seeking employment with schools and kura that have been identified as needing additional support with staffing.
Qualified teachers will be eligible for a $5,000 incentive payment for each of the first two years of employment at a nominated school/kura. If they continue at the same school/kura in years 3, 4 and 5, beginning teachers may also be eligible for up to $17,500 off their student loan.*
Select schools and kura who are entitled to $10,000 per year for the first 2 years of employing a beginning teacher. There is no limit to the number of beginning or returning teachers that schools can employ under this scheme.
We will send graduates who register a targeted list of vacancies at eligible schools/kura to suit their professional strengths an preferred location. If interested, the participants should then apply to the school/kura with a CV and cover letter in the normal way. The decision on whether to appoint teachers who apply for positions remains at the discretion of the employer.
If you are a 2022 teaching graduate of initial teaching education or a Teacher Education Refresh graduate, register your interest by filling in the form.
