This workshop will focus on developing an understanding about how children explore their ideas and learn whilst they play, why children play, their desire to play in ways that help them learn and develop relationships.

This will also be examined in the context of the curriculum learning outcomes. Participants will be supported to develop an understanding of how both the New Zealand Curriculum and the Te Whāriki Early Childhood Curriculum can be enacted through a play-based learning classroom. They will engage with ideas for how they can begin to develop a play-based learning classroom that follows the interests and meets the needs of their students.
