The Museum of New Zealand/Te Papa Tongarewa and Evaluation Associates/Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga are excited to collaborate on a new learning opportunity that weaves together their combined knowledge of Aotearoa NZ Histories.

This two-day workshop will be based at the Maritime Museum and will draw on local history, and detail how you can integrate it into your classroom. Working together, Te Papa and Evaluation Associates/Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga, draw on their strengths to provide an enriching workshop that focuses on belonging through place and the history of your locality. Along with connection to placed-based and local history, you will deepen your understanding of weaving Aotearoa New Zealand histories through your curriculum. You will be guided by two expert facilitators - one from Evaluation Associates/Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga and one from Te Papa Tongarewa - to bring together the best of knowledge for a full, rich programme of learning.

Learning outcomes:

  • Use taonga, local stories and culture and heritage sites to explore the Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) histories curriculum
  • Engage with the ANZ histories curriculum and consider different perspectives
