Anita Homewood - See me, hear me, know me: Building on the learning foundations for toddlers

Toddlers have long been referred to as the in-between age, the waiting space from infancy to the independent child. But this time is just as vital a time for toddlers, as they work through more challenges and make discoveries about who they are and their place in this world. We will look at what is happening for toddlers from Magda Gerber's Educaring® approach and how we can support them as they build on their identities as leaderful learners. We will look at our ways of being that will allow the toddler to realise just how capable and competent they really are, weaving Te Whāriki throughout and look at ways in which to make this rich learning visible in our assessment documentation.

Justine O'Hara-Gregan - The Gift of Presence

Mind full, or mindful? In our daily lives as teachers and parents we are often physically present, but our minds are elsewhere. In this presentation Justine will explore the value of giving children the gift of our full presence during ‘wants something quality time’ and ‘wants nothing quality time’. There will also be opportunities to experience simple mindfulness practices to help bring us more fully into the present moment and enhance the quality of attention that we offer to our experiences and to our interactions with others.
