The Better Public Media Student Challenge 2021
Better Public Media (BPM) is running another annual Student Challenge, providing an opportunity for secondary students to write about current media issues in New Zealand. It need not just be an essay; in past years we have had great entries in the form of short videos, podcasts, art works and music.
We have extended the submission deadline until the end of August and invite students to respond to the following topic: $55 million has been earmarked for public interest journalism in New Zealand. How would you spend that money?
Once again, there are great prizes: $1,000 for the winning student (duos are possible); $500 second prize; and $500 to the winner's school.
