About this event

We live in exciting times, with Digital technologies advancing at an incredible rate and playing an ever-increasing role in all aspects of our lives.

In today’s fast-changing world, it’s more important than ever that learners explore and understand technology (including digital technologies). They need to discover how technology can make our lives better, while understanding how to be safe and responsible when using, designing, and creating technologies.

The new digital technological curriculum areas are not just about teaching students to use computers and other digital devices in their learning. Rather, they are about helping students to become digitally capable thinkers, producers, and creators of innovative digital solutions.

Like any new or revised curriculum area, change takes time – each school will be starting from a different point on their journey towards confidently and capably teaching the revised technology learning area.

So how do we design a localised curriculum that weaves the Digital areas of the Technologies curriculum in authentic and meaningful ways?

In this workshop, Cognition’s experienced facilitator, Te Ahua Park, will support you to explore:

Why is technology & digital fluency important?

What has changed in the revised technologies curriculum?

How do we start to think about using high-impact strategies to design a local technologies curriculum?
