According to scientific studies of writing, fluent handwriting is essential to early writing development. Many students presenting with writing difficulties have not yet mastered this key skill. 

Interested in learning more about effective handwriting programmes? Join us for the first of our Science of Writing workshops: Teaching Handwriting to transform writing, for Y0–2 teachers.

Presented by writing specialists Belinda Duggan (managing director at The Write Lesson), and Helen Walls (PhD), this workshop will cover:

  • Current research, and what it tells us about the why, what and how of handwriting instruction;
  • Fun and effective methods for teaching handwriting, to raise achievement in writing, and in literacy learning generally.
