The Professional Marveller
Wednesday 7 March. 6.30pm for light refreshments. Workshop 7-8.30 pm
Venue: MARC Early Learning Centre, 122 Mount Albert Rd, Auckland.
Presented by Diti Hill-Denee
'The image of the rich child needs to be complemented by the image of the rich teacher: multi-lingual and with a capacity for amazement and surprise since, to be capable of maintaining this gift of marvelling and wonder, is a fundamental quality in a person working with children.' (Moss, P. (2019)
Diti will share her perspective on the early childhood teacher as professional marveller. She will draw on the pedagogy of Reggio Emilia, the work of Peter Moss and the curriculum document Te Whāriki to workshop ideas about creating an empowering environment where children have agency to create and act on their own ideas, where play and playfulness are valued, where kaiako see the child as a person who wants to learn, where the knowledge and experiences children bring with them are valued and where the cultural tools are as various as a map, a word or a gesture (Te Whāriki pp.18-21).
Numbers are limited. Please register through Eventbrite.
