Visual Art: Printmaking with Erinna Law

This session will support teachers to:

  • Provide ways to engage students at level 4 of the visual arts curriculum through printmaking covering the following achievement objectives:
    - understanding the visual arts in context
    - developing practical knowledge
    - developing ideas as well as communicating and interpreting
  • Explore simple printmaking techniques while enhancing both student and teacher wellbeing as they use their imagination and creativity to express their ideas
  • Explore how the local environment could be utilised to support teaching of the visual arts curriculum
  • Support the integration of cross curricula links.

All techniques demonstrated could be easily transferred into the classroom without the need for a printing press or expensive materials.

Leaning outcomes:

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand how printmaking techniques can support the achievement of learning objectives within the Arts in the New Zealand Curriculum
  • Develop confidence in the use of skills and techniques to teach printmaking
  • Create their own mono prints, cyanotypes and eco prints as exemplars for their students
  • Use their knowledge of artists and art history to inspire their students’ visual arts practice.
