Using materials and games to teach vital maths concepts with Jill Smythe
This course is designed to guide teachers in the use of games and materials to teach important concepts and promote understanding.
The session will investigate place value, fractions, multiplication and division and explore teaching strategies and materials to use which will help with understanding the concepts. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore personal challenges in the use of materials to develop specific maths understandings they confront in their own practice. The workshop will also provide sources for materials.
At the completion of the course participants will:
- Have extended content knowledge of place value, fractions, multiplication and division
- Have knowledge of equipment and activities that support the teaching of important maths concepts.
