Rock and Water (Social Safety/Wellbeing) Programme - Accreditation Training for Educators
Rock and Water is an evidence-based, scientifically proven programme (latest research 2014, 2019, 2021) using a psycho-physical approach to develop social skills, self-control, self-confidence, emotional awareness, resilience, self-respect and self-realisation for students and adults, using a holistic ethos – hauora in action!
The programme uses games and exercises to develop wellbeing through strong physical and emotional awareness (with a pervasive focus on self-regulation - crucial for cortical development), mental strength (including practical and effective strategies for developing and maintaining positive mental health, reduction of anxiety) and social competency (communication skills, assertiveness, dealing with bullying/violence, acceptance of others etc).
The training is supported by an outstanding NEW full-colour, hard backed manual containing a programme of 48 lessons (of approximately 50 minutes each), supported by student reflection journals, video scenarios and an instructional video series for facilitators (included in the registration). The beauty of Rock and Water is the flexibility - you can shape it to meet your unique needs, or simply follow the clear sequential structure in the manual.
The training is focused on delivering Rock and Water to students from nine years of age, with the later stages of the programme targeted at students 14+ (looks at sexuality, spirituality, inner strength, goal setting etc).
Rock and Water is best delivered over time (across several years) to allow the concepts and skills to become "part of what we do" within your organisation. The goals and values of the programme fit seamlessly within the NZ Curriculum, and the PE and Health curriculum in particular.
