It’s always been hard to maintain a semblance of work/life balance in the ECE sector… but the last several months have pushed many of us to our limits. Burn out was almost an occupational hazard in the past but now it’s become the soup of the day. So how can ECE professionals navigate the complex waters ahead as we all struggle to adjust in a post-covid world? How can we keep ours wellbeing at the forefront when the only thing which is certain is that nothing is certain? To answer this question Nigel will draw heavily on lessons from old dead Romans, the wisdom of sloths, and a life spent working with some of the most complex clinical cases you could imagine.

Nigel has a BSc in Zoology, Masters degrees in Marine Science and Psychology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology. His work as a clinical psychologist spans over two decades and reflects a dual interest in both forensic psychology and working with young people and their families. He’s consulted for a range of private and public organisations from throughout New Zealand including social service agencies, sex offender treatment programs, prisons, the Department of Corrections, the New Zealand Police and Child Youth and Family Services.

He’s written 8 books which have now been published in 19 countries and 10 languages.
