Feuerstein Cognitive Enhancement Programme Workshops for Teaching Thinking

Professional development (PD) Auckland, Canterbury

Posted: 25 November 2020
Notice reference #: 1HAEnM

The 3 early 2021 workshops are as follows:

Feuerstein Standard I, Auckland, 18–22 January

Feuerstein Basic II, Auckland, 18–22 January

Feuerstein Standard III, Christchurch, 26–30 April

The Feuerstein approach to teaching thinking is a widely internationally recognized approach, with particular relevance to students with learning challenges.

It is strongly evidenced based, and Dr. Howie's 2020 (2nd edition) book 'Thinking about the Teaching of Thinking: The Feuerstein Approach' (London: Routledge) shares much of this international and New Zealand research.

The original Standard programme is normally used with learners aged 9 and above, and the more recent Basic programme is used with younger students, and students experiencing considerable learning challenges.

Many RTLBs, SENCOs and learning support coordinators in New Zealand use the Feuerstein approach, and some schools are using it more widely in a 'whole school' way.
