Showquest presents OnScreen. OnScreen is a short film competition open to all high school students around Aotearoa - it's brand new for 2021!

OnScreen is supported by the Ministry of Education & ZM.

OnScreen is all about building confidence and developing the leaders of tomorrow. This platform encourages entries to be strongly student-led.

Entry crew numbers are a maximum of 30 with no minimum number. Entrants must all attend the same school and all entries must have a student director.

Each film must be no more than 5 minutes in length and must follow one of the below film briefs -

  • Truth is stranger than fiction (Take inspiration from a true story)
  • 50 years from now… (Show us the future as you imagine it)
  • “We shouldn’t be here” (Who said that? And why?)
  • Anything but humans (Animation, masks, makeup, animal actors … you decide)

Let your imagination run wild with location filming, original soundtrack, editing, costume, makeup and much more!

OnScreen has an entry cost of $30 per entry, which covers the entire crew of 1-30 (including cast & technical crew). This entry free enables us to run free-to-access masterclasses with industry experts, provide entrants with industry expert judges, create mentoring opportunities and create a digital showcase for friends and whānau.

Registrations close 9 April 2021.
