This session is an introduction to Guardian Leadership and building the capability of leaders to lead their people by developing an increased awareness of themselves as leaders. Tabitha will support participants to explore and develop an understanding of the roles of the four pillars of He Kaitiaki - Guardian Leadership, which include the protection and nurturing of a caring environment where people and ideas are valued, where health, safety and well-being are enhanced and relationships are strong.
Participants will discuss the elements required to be a leader and engage in an experiential learning activity to analyse personal beliefs and how these relate to their leadership behaviours.
Tabitha Leonard is an education consultant, specialising in utilising design thinking to unpack projects and design solutions. This approach is central to the work she does with schools and their focus on critical inquiry practices. Tabitha is the co-author of An Action Research Project with SOLO Taxonomy., "How to tell if it is making a difference."
Sheworks alongside educational leaders and classroom teachers to build their capability and capacity as inquiring practitioners through quality critical inquiry in the form of action research learning projects. Tabitha brings experience in coaching teachers to grow a learning culture that will result in evolutionary – transformational change.
