Simple toys make active babies – Helen Lye

Magda Gerber is an advocate for simple play objects for infants, as they allow children to be as active and competent as possible at every stage of development. This workshop will explore what these are and why they’re recommended, what schemas can be explored with each of them, and where to find them. We will look at how this aligns with Te Whāriki.

See me, hear me, know me: Building on the learning foundations for toddlers - Anita Homewood

Toddlers have long been referred to as the in-between age, the waiting space from infancy to the independent child. This time is just as vital a time for toddlers, as they work through challenges and make discoveries about who they are. We will look at what is happening from an Educaring® approach and how we can support them as they build on their identities as leaderful learners. We will look at how we allow the toddler to realise just how capable and competent they really are, weaving Te Whāriki and looking at ways in which to make this rich learning visible in our assessment documentation.

What does discipline mean within the Educaring® Approach? – Ania Wojcikowski

One of the principles of the Educaring® Approach is Consistency – “We establish clearly defined limits and communicate our expectations to develop discipline” (www.rie.org)

This workshop will explore how to establish clearly defined limits within a respectful approach. Discussions will include what this might look like for infants, toddlers and young children and why it is so important.
