The Numicon programme is internationally recognised for its ability to support students and teachers in the teaching of maths concepts such as:The Numicon programme is internationally recognised for its ability to support students and teachers in the teaching of maths concepts such as:

  • Place value
  • Fractions
  • Number sense
  • Accessing basic facts through attention to patterns
  • Decimals and percentages.

Numicon uses multi-sensory structured apparatus to make the abstract world of maths real to children. Paramount to the success of mathematics teaching is the use of concrete materials, collaborative discussions and creating a positive classroom culture. Catherine will show you how to teach with the Numicon equipment and explain how to make the best use of the books in your classroom. Participants will get to use the equipment on the course and they will receive a maths bag full of resources to use the next day at school.

This course is suitable for those new to Numicon and those who have been using it for a year or two.
