Performance Appraisal, Certification and Teaching as Inquiry

Professional development (PD) Bay of Plenty

Posted: 07 September 2020
Notice reference #: 1HAAb2

Presented by Ali Porteous.

Performance review is looking back on practices and asking ourselves: ‘Why do we do what we do?’ ‘Are our teaching practices consistent with our Code of Standards?’ ‘What is working and what can we improve?’ ‘Is the child the centre of our focus?’

Performance appraisal is a process that keeps us thinking and moving forward as professionals. A great appraisal approach should bring out the best in people, inspire amazing performance and enhance a culture of excellence. Aimed at centre managers/leaders and team/ head of room leaders, this workshop is designed to take you through a performance appraisal framework that will inspire your kaiako to take the lead in their learning, to engage in purposeful conversations and gather meaningful documentation aligned to goals and inquiry foci.

Participants will:

  • Unpack the code of standards and explore what this might look like in teaching practice and documentation
  • Explore the new Childspace framework for performance appraisal and teaching as inquiry
  • Discover what a quality and robust mentoring relationship should include
  • Learn to write inquiry questions and to practice the process of inquiry

A copy of our resource ‘Performance Appraisal and Documentation’ is included in the course.

Course runs from 9am-3pm.

Normal price: $195

Location: Waverly on Wairoa, 36 Taniwha Place, Bethlehem, Tauranga 3172.
