DigiGirls: Engaging Girls in Digital Technologies
Date: Wednesday, 30 September
Venue: Rolleston College, Canterbury
The event is open to ākonga (Y1–13), whānau, and kaiako.
Research shows that more males than females enter a career pathway in digitech. Globally women represent just 22 percent in digitech, while in New Zealand only 26 percent are females.
More opp-her-tunities need to be offered to our wahine ākonga to show them that a career integrated with DigiTech is exciting, challenging, rewarding and empowering.
We invite kaiako, and wahine ākonga to come along to engage in a day of digital technologies.
This is for people who want to have a first go, and also learners who are looking at how understanding digital technologies could add value to their career path. There will also be an opportunity to work with industry professionals and be challenged by their thinking.
Students and whānau – 9am–12pm
Kaiako – 9am–4pm.
The day will start with a morning of hands on digital technologies fun for both students and teachers.
Followed by an afternoon for kaiako with
- Shared kai
- Panel – hear from women in careers where tech has been integrated
- From a kaiako perspective – Integrating DT into your local curriculum
- An opportunity to network, plan and go away with something to start
This is a FREE event made possible with funding from the local MoE.
A collaboration with Create. Her, Creative Trust and impactED.
