Science for primary and intermediate classrooms with Nick Bithell

This session aims to boost teacher confidence, by developing an understanding of how to explore levels 1-4 of the NZ Science curriculum. It is a hands-on workshop where participants will access engaging activities and approaches to develop learning in the classroom. The session will initially explore science in the New Zealand Curriculum and follow up with activities and simulations that explore how the Nature of Science aspect can work within your practice.

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Use the science learning area of the NZ Curriculum to plan engaging teaching and learning activities.
  • Confidently deliver learning activities which develop students science understanding, capabilities and stimulate critical thinking.
  • Understand how to integrate science successfully into the classroom.
