Elena Marouchos, RIE® Associate - "A good enough parent is good enough but caregivers must be excellent" - Magda Gerber.
How The Learning Centre (TLC) are reframing their notion of what 'excellence' looks like during caregiving moments. This presentation focuses on mealtimes and the framework of care model that is being used to elevate practice and reflect on our notions of consistency and what this might mean for children when using the Educaring® Approach.
Sharon Smith, RIE® Associate - Care, Respect, Flourish
“The way we care for our babies is how they experience our love” Magda Gerber. With the focus for taking the time during peaceful care moments, paying attention to children’s gestures and cues, being fully present with them and available as you respond and engage with each other with consistency over time - these all enhance the secure base foundation for the children in your care. This presentation will discuss these concepts of care, with the view of enriching the relationship.
Ania Wojcikowski, RIE® Intern - What does discipline mean within the Educaring® Approach?
One of the principles of the Educaring® Approach is Consistency - “We establish clearly defined limits and communicate our expectations to develop discipline” (www.rie.org)
This workshop will be exploring how to establish clearly defined limits within a respectful approach. Discussions will include what this might look like for infants, toddlers and young children and why it is so important.
