100 year celebrations for Whakatāne High School are coming to Whakatāne this April. Alumni will be wandering the school halls and connecting with classmates and acknowledging the importance of such a significant birthday.

Over the Easter Weekend, 10–11 April, Whakatāne High School will be welcoming hundreds of school alumni back to the school, acknowledging the occasion with special activities and events to celebrate the school’s 100 years in the community.

The weekend will include a mix and mingle on Friday 10 April, Good Friday, at the Whakatāne War Memorial where alumni can reconnect with those old school mates they haven’t seen in years. Then on the Saturday, after an official pōwhiri, alumni will have a chance to reminisce about the ‘good ol’ days’ while enjoying activities such as decade photos, school tours and a hāngī. The Saturday night is the glitz and glamour event with a centenary dinner and dance, again at the Whakatāne War Memorial and includes live entertainment and special presentations. In keeping with the celebration, the theme for the night should you choose to dress to this is The 1920’s'.

Registrations for this important event open today and limited tickets are available for some activities.
