Student Agency – One Way to be a Better Teacher (Webinar)

Professional development (PD) New Zealand (nationwide)

Posted: 27 January 2020
Notice reference #: 1HA4te

This webinar will cover why it was decided to change the way we teach and how this has developed into a course that allows each student to develop a personalised programme that suits their needs.

It uses flipped learning, student-written assessment, choice of standards, flexible timeframes for learning and assessment, academic mentoring and lots of teacher-student interaction.

Join in a conversation about how over 1100 secondary students are deciding what, when and how they want to learn.
This programme was developed in a Maths situation but is applicable to a wide range of secondary classes.

What you'll learn:

  • Evidence that students can be responsible for their learning
  • Confirmation that students have different goals and individual rates of learning
  • We can change without waiting for the perfect situation or the full solution.

Target audience:

Anyone who wants to prepare students for their future rather than our past. Particularly relevant for secondary teachers.

When: Tuesday 24 March 2020 @ 3.30pm (1 hour)

Cost: $195 +GST per school (Up to 50% OFF for small schools – see full details)
