Notice reference #: 1HA4kh

The New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1 is a new qualification that schools can deliver using the NZQA approved SPEC programme.  Aimed at young people who are under achieving at school, disengaged with learning and really struggling with their self esteem and sense of self worth, this programme has proved to be a successful intervention in getting students 'back on track'.  Students will largely be in a high school setting or an alternative educational setting.

The new qualification focuses on development of a set of competencies that employers are particularly looking for in their workforce.  The delivery of the programme engages young people in a more personalised programme, one in which they have a choice of what to study, whilst covering both literacy and numeracy in a relevant and meaningful context.

This programme also addresses the well being of students and values each student as an individual.  This professional development will provide information about the qualification, and the content and delivery of the programme.  It will equip any new school with sufficient knowledge to implement the programme successfully.  Each delegate will receive three complimentary supplements.

The qualification will be included in a student's Record of Learning.

Alongside the qualification through the SPEC programme is the opportunity to gain additional Level 2 credits that can be used towards NCEA.

This professional development is aimed at teachers who are new to SPEC, or teachers who wish to refresh their knowledge.

9.30am–1.30pm Morning tea included  $195 per delegate.
