Guided Reading. Using the Ready to Read Texts, with Andy Butler

This workshop focuses on using the Ready to Read series to help explore our beliefs about reading, unpack what an effective reading programme looks like, look at key elements about reading from Effective Literacy Practice and examine our practice around guided reading. Opportunities for learning to decode, make meaning and think critically using the Ready to Read texts will also be part of the workshop.
Andy Butler is a literacy facilitator with Tools 4 Teachers. She has a wealth of experience in teaching and has recently been leading a team of teachers at a large Auckland primary school. She was also the school co-ordinator for the Graduate Diploma students as well as a Mentor teacher for a number of beginning teachers within her previous school. In the past, she has also been a facilitator in the Numeracy Project.
