Year Two Provisionally Certificated Teachers Programme – Y3–4
Experienced mentor facilitators will guide participants through inquiry that aligns with their practice in schools and will be responsive to the needs of these teachers. The year two programme includes a workshop with Frances Steinberg focussed on developing an awareness of learning difficulties and specialist facilitators will run workshops to support the aspects of professional learning identified as requiring support. Participants attending these programmes will benefit from the opportunity to share experiences and collaboratively problem solve with colleagues.
Participants will be supported to create, develop and maintain personal portfolios of evidence and models of reflection will be shared to support this. Teachers will be encouraged to align this with existing appraisal processes used in their schools and will work closely with the standards for the teaching profession to ensure that they are prepared when applying for full registration.
Teacher Education Refresh Programme
The Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme is currently funded by the Ministry of Education for those teacher required by the Teaching Council to complete a TER.
The Kohia Centre programme can be completed in 2–3 months. It is delivered through a combination of 4 face-to-face workshop days, online modules/tasks and a 4 week practicum in a school. (Teachers already employed in long term teaching positions can use their current position to demonstrate effective teaching practice).
