Applied Child Protection Practice - Christchurch

Professional development (PD) Canterbury

Posted: 17 September 2019
Notice reference #: 1H9yXv

Are you looking to deepen your knowledge of child protection? Are you your organisation’s ‘designated person for child protection’ and/or facing challenging child protection situations?

Robust, effective child protection response is essential if we are to improve the wellbeing of our vulnerable children.

Child Protection reviews regularly reveal gaps in our best practice response which impact on the children we are working with or supporting.

Working interactively in groups and guided by the Safeguarding Children team, we will explore the issues and obstacles to best practice we face.

The workshop will give you the tools to develop robust, effective child focused strategies and responses to reduce professional risk, follow best practice, and close the gaps.

  • Reviewing your child protection knowledge
  • Risk assessment and child vulnerability
  • Using best practice and reviews to overcome obstacles
  • Reporting thresholds and ‘grey’ areas
  • ‘Professional dangerousness’
  • Difficult conversations.
