Date: 1-4 October.
Hosted by the Wellington Mathematics Association for Y1–13 teachers.
The theme for the conference is:
'Coming together to celebrate the teaching and learning of mathematics and statistics.' 'E whakakōtahi ano ki te whakanui i te kaupapa i te pāngaru me te tatauranga.'
The focus of the conference is on:
- Celebrating and sharing the art of teaching mathematics and statistics
- Connecting to the community.
The conference will give teachers (kaiako) the opportunity to connect with primary, intermediate and secondary teachers at the host venue of Hutt Valley High School.
Over 120 workshops across the 4 days, along with 8 keynote speakers, to engage teachers, along with off-site visits to local industries utilising mathematics and statistics in the workplace. Social activities in the evenings are also planned!
The website nzamt16.nz includes registrations, abstracts (still being accepted), accommodation in the Hutt Valley, information about the keynote speakers, programme overview and our conference partners.
The conference coincides with the World of Wearable Arts shows. So, please organise your accommodations asap. This gives attendees the option to link into the culture of the Wellington and Hutt Valley regions with their partners and whānau.
Registrants will soon be able to select the workshops they would like to attend, as the 'Workshop Selection' will go live in a few weeks. Teachers can register for a day, 2, 3 or the full 4 days depending on their needs and interests.
The early bird registration fee finishes 31 August, just over 3 weeks away, and then it will be the full cost. So if you have not registered yet, then get onto it!
