New to the Role of Middle Leadership in Secondary School
This workshop provides the opportunity for those new to curriculum middle leadership in secondary schools (HOLA, HOF, HOD, assistant HOD, TiC) to explore leadership practices that will enable them to effectively lead a team of teachers that continually seek to enhance their practice and achieve improved outcomes for students in their curriculum area. In particular the course will focus on strategies for leading the learning of teachers and developing the use of data to plan for learning. Learning from this course could contribute to a professional learning inquiry.
At the completion of the course participants will:
1. Develop knowledge of the practices of curriculum middle leadership.
2. Understand how middle leaders can use a range of data to support planning to improve outcomes for students.
Jenny is an accredited PLD facilitator with expertise in building teacher, middle and senior leader evaluative capability. A key focus of this work is supporting the collection and use of a range of qualitative and quantitative data required for inquiry-based approaches to schooling improvement. She has extensive curriculum experience in health education, including NCEA, and supports the development of whole school approaches to promoting wellbeing in schools.
