What Does it Mean to See Me?

Professional development (PD) Canterbury

Posted: 25 July 2019
Notice reference #: 1H9wEN

Date: Wednesday 2 October.

Time: 6–8pm.

Venue: The Garden Hotel, 110 Marshaland Road, Shirley, Christchurch.

Cost: $55pp.

You read from my enrolment form a picture of me, my cultural background, sometime the financial status of my whānau, the languages I might know, my age, my name, my mum and dad’s names, who is allowed to pick me up, my iwi, where I live but in that picture do you really see ME?

This thought provoking workshop seeks to challenge teachers to understand what it means to move beyond their own cultural, social, historic assumptions and to really see the children of their centre whānau.
