Join us for a day lead by practitioners who actively work to implement Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach in their daily practice.

Malenka Robinson – "Educaring® and Documentation – Do they Marry up?"

This workshop will explore how we, as practitioners working with the New Zealand ECE Curriculum and the Educaring® Approach, can weave our values and beliefs in to essential learning documentation. This workshop will involve group discussions and differing examples as well as examining the RIE® Basic Principles.

Anita Homewood – With a little love and understanding: nurturing emotional literacy and empathy.

We are understanding more and more the importance of the first three years of life in laying the foundations for learning. The Educaring® Approach works beautifully to develop the whole child, recognising the importance of nurturing emotional literacy. So how do we create an environment where infants and toddlers are able to grow this learning? What about those challenging moments? Where does empathy begin? We will look at what brain research can teach us about this vital learning for children. We will pay particular attention to how we can support toddlers to understand and work through these emotions – looking at examples of the rich learning that comes from creating emotionally safe spaces.

Helen Armstrong – "The anchor that gave me wings"
What is primary caregiving? And what does it look like in our settings? Helen will share a practical look at how a carefully cultivated primary caregiving approach works in group‑care environments. We will explore and discuss concepts of attachment, independence and authentic relationships for infants, toddlers and caregivers.
