Down Syndrome : Success in School

Auckland Down Syndrome Association is holding the “Down Syndrome – Success in School” course in August 2019. This is a 2-day course with a variety of speakers.
The course will be held on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 August and is for SENCO’s, teachers, teacher aides, specialist staff, occupational therapists and parent educators. A variety of presenters are involved, including Dr Jude MacArthur.
Each day starts at 8.30am and finishes at approximately 3.45pm. The venue is the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre in Mt Wellington.

Teacher Education Refresh Programme
The Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme is currently funded by the Ministry of Education for those teacher required by the Teaching Council to complete a TER.
The Kohia Centre programme can be completed in 2–3 months. It is delivered through a combination of 4 face-to-face workshop days, online modules/tasks and a 4 week practicum in a school. (Teachers already employed in long term teaching positions can use their current position to demonstrate effective teaching practice).
