Key Competencies Pathway
Unpacking the Key Competencies for students working within Level 1 of the New Zealand Curriculum presented by Julie King and Cathy Herries.
This workshop will be hands on and will explore how progress in the key competencies is achievable for all students working within Level One of the New Zealand Curriculum, including those at the earliest levels of development.
The Key Competencies Pathway is a resource written by learning support practitioners which unpacks the five competencies in the New Zealand Curriculum and makes them meaningful and accessible to practitioners working with this group of learners. The resource recognises the importance of early skill development, relevant experiences and effective pedagogy as integral to our learners on their journey to become lifelong learners. The Key Competencies Pathway will support curriculum planning and the writing of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Please bring a copy of the Key Competencies Pathway, one or two student profiles, IEPs and information on how you currently plan and record key competencies development.
