The New Zealand Literacy Association (NZLA) with the Canterbury Literacy Association (CLA) are pleased to host the 42nd national conference 'The Arts as a Bridge to Literacy' at Rangi Ruru Girls' School, Christchurch. 29 September–2 October.

The themes for the workshops are:

  • Learning through the arts – Drama, storytelling, visual arts, puppets, dance, music…
  • Love of literature – Inspiring our students with a love of literacy and  learning – library, engagement, authors, illustrators, creativity, rich literature, poetry…
  • Sharing our practice-based inquiries and research – Including spiral of inquiry, NZLA research, Kāhui Ako research...

Keynote speakers: Gavin Bishop, Dame Wendy Pye, Dr Steven Layne (USA), Dr Viv Aitken, Marcus Akuhata-Brown, Dr Murray Gadd, Mary Chamberlain
