Notice reference #: 1H9tXW

It isn’t too late to register and join some of your fellow beginning teachers and our experienced and passionate facilitators from Te Whai Toi Tangata: Institute of Professional Learning for the remaining four PCT workshops for Year One teachers!

Our next round of workshops in Hamilton and Tauranga are in weeks 3 and 4 of next term. Session 2 focuses on literacy and will share practical ideas on how to foster a love of reading and writing. In June, session three will be a hands-on workshop featuring a range of effective strategies to support mathematics teaching in your classroom.

Some feedback from our first session together included comments like:

  • "Today I learned it's alright to make mistakes because that's how we learn. We have to take care of ourselves to be able to take care of our students."
  • "Today's session really reinforced my understanding of the need to get to know your students and their family/whānau in order to make the connections that are so important for an effective learning environment. I have also come away with some links to useful resources, and some practical ideas for 'getting to know you' activities."
  • "Today I liked that the ladies treated us like equals and the professionals that we are.”
