New Zealand Youth Tobacco Monitor 2019

Projects and programmes

Posted: 18 April 2019
Notice reference #: 1H9tNF

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) and the Health Promotion Agency recently invited schools to participate in the 2019 New Zealand Youth Tobacco Monitor (NZYTM) involving the ASH Y10 Snapshot survey. The survey will be conducted in term 2 between 20 May and 5 July.

Participating in the NZYTM survey is really important for ensuring the data and trends give an accurate reflection of what is happening in youth smoking across New Zealand. Your school’s contribution informs policy initiatives, health promotion, legislative change and health promotion activities to reduce tobacco use by young people.

Participating schools will receive their school’s smoking figures, including a comparison with the national trends across all participating schools throughout New Zealand. The data can help you to monitor trends in smoking among your students and develop smokefree processes and initiatives, if necessary.
